TREK AROUND AMPAMAYO AND HUASCARÁN
A complete tour to «The Most Beautiful Mountain in the World» in the midst of inhospitable landscapes and splendid views of sunsets in the «Cañón del Pato», meeting point of the Cordillera Negra and Blanca. Remains of terraces of the «Kingdom of the Abyss» of Auquis Puquio (ancient spring). Passage to the base camp of the mythical Alpamayo circling the 6000m mountain which features Santa Cruz, Quitarajiu and Milluacocha. Herds of sheep and alpacas litter the remote valleys, people in traditional dress, fields of quinua and quiwicha (Andean cereals). A tour where every day is different.

Travel Plan
Arrival in Lima, transfer and installation in the hotel.
In the morning we take the bus to Huaraz. 8 hour trip along the Peruvian north coast. We go up a paso from 4100 to get to Huaraz.
Walk In Cordillera Negra a Perfect balcony to appreciate the Cordillera Blanca with the highest peaks, Huascarán, Copa, Hualcan, Vallunaraju . After climbing 600m, we return to the valley to rest.
We take a van to climb the Collón valley to Pashpa 3500m. We climb a panoramic route with the Copa in frote 6180m, the Vallunaraju 560m, and of course the Urus 5490m. After 3 hours we arrive in the Urus lake. Descent to Pashpa and Albergo.
Departing from Huaraz in a private vehicle, we will pass through the towns of the Callejón de Huaylas (Carhuaz, Yungay y Caraz) to then take a detour to Colcas and begin the ascent to Hualcallan (3140m), from where we will begin the walk, going up a horse trail to the Huishcash, where the first camp will be set up.
We will walk on the edge of the Cañion with views of the lagoons of Yanacocha and Azulcocha and then pass by the edge of the Cullicocha lagoon from where a splendid view of the Santa Cruz snowfield extends. Then you will climb to meet the Cullicocha pass (4850m) and the Alto Alpamayo pass (4650 m), from where you begin to descend to Osoruri (4400 m). The second camp will be set up here.
We will go down the crack of the Cedars to walk in the direction of the Alpamayo crack where the third camp will be set up at an altitude of 3800m: a place from where there is a wonderful view of the pyramidal shape of the Alpamayo snowfield (5947m), considered the most beautiful mountain in the world. Setting up the third camp.
We will leave the camp crossing a small stream from where we will begin to climb in the direction of the Caracara pass (4830 m), descending through the Moyabamba valley. Then you will cross the Mesapampa pass (4500m) and descend into the Huillca valley (4100m). Setting up the fourth camp.
We will leave from the camp for the Yanta Queñua rift in the direction of the Yanajanca pass (4600m), then we will descend by the Laurel rift, arriving at Jancapampa (3600m) where the fifth camp will be set up.
We will leave by the Jancapampa fissure to reach the Pishgopampa annex (3600 m). We begin to climb through the Tingopamapa fissure up to the Tupa Tupa pass (4400m) to then descend to Quishuar (3800m) where the sixth camp will be set up.
After breakfast we will leave to reach the Alto di Pucaraju pass (4650 m); from this point you will have an excellent view of the Huaripampa fissure and the Taulliraju and Pucaraju snowfields (5025m). Descent to Huaripampa (4200 m) where the seventh camp will be set up.
Easy descent to the small towns of Huaripampa, Colabamba and Chalhua. The path remains alongside the entrance to turn towards the Queshu fissure. Climb progressively side by side up to the Contrahierbas refuge. Arrival, installation in the refuge. In the afternoon, visit the archaeological site "Quisuar" near the refuge.
We take the same path from Molinopampa, after without descending into the river, we go up the Ulta Chico valley. After a forest of “quenuales” arbelo typical of the Andes. We climb a very old trail under the Contrahierbas a 6000m peak. We pitch tents on a balcony at 4600m.
From the saddle there is a splendid view: Chopicalqui, Huascarán, descent to the camp of Ulta. The equipment will be sent with the carriers. Transfer to Marcará. Hotel accommodation.

- Día 5: From Marcará bus to Huacayán (3100m) - Trek Huiscash (4400m).
- Día 6: Huishcash - Cullicocha Lagoon (4600m) - Cullicocha Pass (4860m) - Osoruri (4500m).
- Día 7: Osoruri - Vientunam Pass (4750m) - Ruinapama (4000m) - Jancarurish (4200m).
- Día 8: Jancarurish (4200m) - Cara Cara Pass (4850m) - Mesapata (4500m) - Huillca (4100m).
- Día 9: Huillca (4100m) - Yanacón Pass (4600m) - Jancapampa (3500m).
- Día 10: Jancapampa (3500m) - Tupa Tupa Pass (4400m) - Laguna Huecrucocha (4000m).
- Día 11: Huecrucocha lake (4000m) - Pucaraju high pass (4600m) Huaripampa (3700m).
- Día 12: Huaripampa ( 3700 m) - Chalhua (3600 m) - Molinopampa ( 3650 m) – Refugio Contrahierbas 4100 m.
- Día 13: Refugio Contrahierbas 4100m. – Mirador 4600 m.
- Día 14: Mirador (4600m) - paso Yanayacu (4850m) - Quedrada Ulta - Return by bus to Marcará.
