Trek Vilcanota and Ausangate Traverse

The Ausangate is the culminating point of the south east of Peru, it is a very aesthetic
summit that dominates the Vilcanota mountain range. Its glacier is considered one of the
main tutelary divinities of the peoples of the southern Andes. The massif as a whole is
revered by the Andean communities. In the extreme northwest of the Vilcanota mountain
range, the largest Andean celebration is held every year. The QOYLLUR R’ITTI pilgrimage
is the meeting point for thousands of indigenous people who have come to pray to the
protective apu (sacred mountain). At the foot of the glacier there is a church that bears
witness to the religious syncretism that is very present in the central Andes. All the water
from the massif flows to the eastern slope of the Andes mountain range and increases
the flow of the AMAZONAS. Andean cosmology would like these waters to return to the
place of birth through an astral path that they call WILLKAMAYU, also called the milky
way. This six-day trek consists of completing the entire AUSANGATE tour. The wild beauty
that characterizes this whole massif is striking: where snow-capped peaks, lagoons of
various colors completely remote, are presented, a trekking reserved for passionate
people and already acclimatized to the altitude (overpasses over five thousand meters).
. A few days of light excursions in the Cusco region are necessary before starting this
program. The wild beauty that characterizes this whole massif is striking: where snowcapped
